You’re Not Failing, You’re Just Being Guided Back Home.
Nov 11, 2025The other day at a parenting conference, this question came up: "Any advice that you have for a mother who may be suffering with depression and struggling to keep up with connecting to and supporting her children?"
What I wanted to say to this mother is that it takes a lot of courage to ask this question, with the weight and heaviness that you’re carrying. You are not alone in this, and there is a way through.
When you’re in the thick of depression, it can feel like you’re failing everyone: your children, your responsibilities, yourself. But you’re not failing. You’re feeling. And that feeling is an invitation, a call to return home to Allah and yourself.
🌿 Here’s what I want you to remember:
-
Go back to the Source. Allah knows exactly what you’re going through. Ask Him for healing with sincerity and humility. Trust His timing, He will respond. (As your Source, He is listening and He is the Healer).
-
Your children belong to Him. He’s the One caring for them, guiding them, protecting them, even when you can’t see how. (He is taking care of everything, so whatever is meant to be is going to happen).
-
Your best is enough. Allah doesn’t expect perfection, only intention and effort. Your quietest attempts for His sake are seen and loved by Him. (You are not failing; Allah doesn't look for the quantity, but for your best effort and sincere intention).
-
Take care of yourself first. Your children don’t need a perfect mother; they need a present, grounded one. When you nourish your soul, that pours into them. (The way to help your children is to help yourself first, so take care of yourself).
🌙 Depression isn’t who you are; it’s a sign that you’ve disconnected from the present moment, from yourself, and from Allah and are living in the past.
As I shared, depression is a symptom of disconnection—a symptom of your mind living chronically in the past, which creates so much fog and pain and makes you forget who you are. The past doesn't exist; the only thing that exists is the present moment, and that’s the only place we can access Allah (SWT) and be connected to yourself.
You are not broken. You're just disconnected from yourself and your fitrah (innate disposition), and that can be healed.
Healing begins with reconnection — through Taqwa (God consciousness), Tawakkul (reliance on Allah), and Yaqeen (certainty in Allah).
🕊️ You’re not alone.
Allah is always with you. He sees and hears you.
✨ If you are ready to stop surviving and start reconnecting to your faith, your children, and your peace, the next step is simple.
Let’s walk this path together back home to peace, presence, and Allah.
